PETALING JAYA: As if dealing with his thigh strain is not stressful enough, national striker Safee Sali has also had to deal with rumours of his transfer to Johor FC.

Although the 28-year-old is still contracted to Pelita Jaya in Indonesia, it did not stop the rumour-mongers from working overtime in spreading word that he had signed up with Johor FC.

This has clearly irked Safee, who is preparing with the national team for Sunday's crucial AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final, first-leg match against Thailand at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

"This is all rumours … I'm still contracted to Pelita Jaya and my focus is with the national team and the match against Thailand," Safee said after a light training session at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya yesterday.

"Yes, the turmoil within the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) is a concern but I find the rumours disruptive to the national team's preparation."

Safee, who also complained of fatigue after the group matches last week, said that he's confident of recovering in time for the Thailand match.

"We have five more days … I really hope to get ready by then," said Safee, who was the top scorer in the 2010 edition of the competition with five goals.

"I've only scored one goal this time but I'm confident the goals will flow in the semi-finals."

Malaysia will travel to Bangkok for the return leg at the Supachalasai Stadium on Dec 13.
