Malaysia striker Safee Sali could play for Harimau Muda in S ...

Posted: 09 Jan 2012 05:00 AM PST

Malaysia star striker Safee Sali could see himself playing in the S.League temporarily if the ongoing crisis within the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) is not resolved soon.

The PSSI is currently in the midst of an issue regarding their official league with the Indonesian Super League (ISL) deemed to be unofficial.

It's a baffling situation in Indonesia as the previously unofficial Indonesian Premier League is now the PSSI endorsed league with its former officials in the federation. The ISL, which was to have shut down, is still in operation, and by Fifa rules Safee Sali could face being banned from the national side for playing in a league that is not endorsed by the country's football federation.

The Malaysian Football Association (FAM) is closely monitoring the situation with the prospect of losing its top striker proving to be unacceptable. With Safee's contract at Pelita Jaya coming to an end in January, talks of bringing him back to the Malaysian Super League (MSL) have been brought up, but quickly quashed due to the end of the transfer window in Malaysia and the FAM's reluctantance to make special dispensations.

However, there seems to be a likely alternative in the S.League with Harimau Muda as the transfer window is still open in Singapore. Harimau Muda boss Ong Kim Swee is open to the idea, claiming that it could be useful for Safee to play over there, while waiting for the transfer window in the MSL to re-open in April.

"It's a good idea. I have no objections if Safee wants to join us," he told the New Straits Times.

"We can easily fit him into the team and he will get to play football while he thinks of his next move. It would be a great boost to have someone of Safee's calibre playing with the team," Ong enthused.

Rumors also suggest that Safee Sali could also move to Belgian side CV Vise or A-League outfit Brisbane Roar. Both clubs are under the ownership of the Bakrie Family, who also run Safee's current club Pelita Jaya.

Robbie Fowler joins Muangthong in 2011

Robbie Fowler, a former Liverpool's legendary players. He's attacking ability is a nightmare to many defenders, and his wealth of experience is an asset to any team. Age does not help him, but somehow he found his way to export his talent to the other part of the world. Fowler begins his conquest in the far east after joining North Queensland in the Australian A-League. Then he moved to Perth Glory. Fowler is now acting as a player-coach for the Thailand Premier League team, Muangthong United. Malaysian national striker Safee Sali who is now having a problem in the FIFA banned Liga Super Indonesia is rumored to had an offer from Muangthong United to get out of the club Pelita Jaya Safee. Reports in Thailand also mentioned about the proposal by Muangthong for Safee.

Safee precarious fate might have been saved by Muangthong United, but is Safee willing to receive the proposal? Should he accept the offer by Muangthong, Safee could be the first Malaysian player to play in the Thailand football league and playing experience with legendary Robbie Fowler is an offer that could only come once in a thousand years.

Safee Sali To Play In Thailand? | Sarawak Bloggers News Tribune

Posted: 12 Jan 2012 08:18 PM PST

An online football magazine has linked Malaysian prolific striker Safee Sali with a move to Muang Thong, a Thai club.

Safee, 27 needs to move from his current club Pelita Jaya (Indonesia) to find regular playing football after Pelita Jaya decided to participate in an illegal Indonesian league. The problem is a national football problem in Indonesia as two major leagues are available with only one endorsed by FIFA. Playing for an illegal league would see Safee banned from any FIFA tournaments, and this includes playing for the Malaysian national team.

Safee Sali has previously been linked with a move to Harimau Muda, the nation's under-23 squad which plays in the Singaporen S-League as he can't play for the any team in the Malaysian League until the transfer window reopens.

Nombor punggung Safee Sali | CIK SEMBANG DOT COM

Posted: 05 Jan 2012 10:20 PM PST

dulu sepuluh (gambar ihsan google)

Sedikit biodata Safee Sali:

Nama penuh Safee Mohd Sali, Kelahiran anak Selangor dan berumur 28 tahun ini. Telah berkahwin dan mempunyai 2 orang cahaya mata. Selebihnya saya tak tahu sebab memang tak pandai nak mengulas sukan.

sekarang nombor 55 (gambar ihsan google)

Apalah nasib Malaysia pada Piala Suzuki tahun ini ye?

Malaysia Football News: Safee Sali may play in Singapore if ...

Posted: 07 Jan 2012 02:14 AM PST

Safee Sali has more than one way out of the mess that Indonesian football is in.

After a stint in Singapore with Young Tigers A, he can play in the S-League.

The FA of Malaysia (FAM) is also considering allowing Safee to return to the M-League but this move is fraught with difficulty as the transfer window has closed.

Safee, 28, whose contract with Pelita Jaya ends on Jan 31, has not decided on his next move after being offered a three-year contract extension by his club.

But to remain with Pelita would throw Safee's international future into doubt as the threat of a ban by Fifa hangs over the rebel Indonesia Super League (ISL) in which Safee's club plays in.

Indonesian football is split between the official Liga Premier Indonesia (LPI) and ISL, which saw its roles reversed from last year after officials from the then-unofficial LPI took over the running of the Indonesian FA (PSSI).

Fifa has given PSSI until March 20 to sort out the mess, failing which all players, coaches and officials from ISL will be banned from international football.

FAM competitions committee chairman Datuk Hamidin Amin suggested on Wednesday that Safee return to play in Malaysia by making an exception in the transfer regulations.

But this move could create an unwanted precedent which would leave FAM exposed to accusations of favouritism.

As the Malaysian transfer window opens only in April, Safee could temporarily join Young Tigers A in the S-League while deciding the next course of action.

The Tigers have one vacancy on their roster after naming 29 players for their S-League campaign and coach Ong Kim Swee will gladly welcome the experience that Safee will provide to the younger players.

"It's a good idea. I have no objections if Safee wants to join us. We can easily fit him into the team and he will get to play football while he thinks of his next move.

"It would be a great boost to have someone of Safee's calibre playing with the team," said Kim Swee.

Banning of ISL lands Safee Sali in quandary | BorneoPost Online ...

Safee Sali

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's soccer star Safee Sali who plays for Indonesian professional outfit Pelita Jaya is in a quandary following FIFA banning the Indonesia Super League (ISL).

Pelita Jaya plays in the ISL.

According to Indonesian news portal Republika, FIFA had issued a letter to All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) president Djohar Arifin Husin stating that it did not recognise the ISL.

According to the contents of the letter, signed by FIFA secretary-general Jarome Valcke and Asian Football Confederation (AFC) secretary-general Datuk Alex Soosay, the ban also extends to all players, officials and referees involved in the ISL.

"A freeze has also been imposed on transfer of players from the ISL, effectively preventing them from playing in leagues or championships in countries which are FIFA affiliates.

"Players like Safee are also affected, they cannot play outside the ISL," the portal said.

Prior to this, Safee had said if Pelita Jaya was affected by the ban, he would try to ply his trade elsewhere and at the same time represent Malaysia's national squad.

FIFA, however, has given Indonesia until March 20 to sort out its football problems, failing which harsher action would be taken.

The ISL is the league for professional clubs in Indonesia but does not come under the jurisdiction of the PSSI. — Bernama

Safee Sali asked to leave ISL

Posted: 01 Jan 2012 10:32 PM PST

Malaysian Sports Minister Seri Shabery Cheek asked striker Pelita Jaya from Malaysia, Safee Sali, immediately left the competition Indonesia Super League (ISL) in order to avoid sanctions the World Football Federation (FIFA). Safee asked to play in official competitions under the auspices of the All Indonesia Football Association.

"We have met
Malaysia Minister and discussed about Safee. He (Seri Shabery Cheek) Safee asked to play in official competitions of FIFA recognized, which is being rolled PSSI competition," said Director of Legal PSSI Finantha Rudy. "Otherwise, he can not strengthen the Malaysian national team."

Meeting with the Malaysian Sports Minister, said Rudy, took place in Surabaya when the Unity Cup between Persebaya Surabaya against clubs from Malaysia, Kelantan FA, December 28, 2011. The meeting was attended by Indonesia Minister of Youth and Sports Andi Mallarangeng and National Team Coordinator Bob Hippy.

During the meeting, said Rudy, Shabery said it would ask Safee not play in the Super League so he can still strengthen the Malaysian national team. Therefore, the player who insisted on competing in the Super League threatened could strengthen their national team. This provision is a direct threat from FIFA.

PSSI, Rudy continued, giving time to Safee and the players and the club's Super League to return to the PSSI January 6. If until the deadline is still insisting they play in Super League, "We will report to the Ministry of Labor and the Immigration for a visa (Safee and foreign players who played in Super League) may be revoked," he said.

In addition PSSI will also send the names of players and their Super League club to FIFA by mail. FIFA will be giving sanction to the names and clubs that reported it. "If until January 6, they do not want to go back to the PSSI, we must send a letter," he said.

Many Malaysians are concerned with their number one national football striker Safee Sali regarding the news of the banning on Indonesian Super League (ISL).
